Kaki Birtel - Artist in Motion

Kaki Orr Birtel has her roots in Texas but grew up in New Orleans. In 1999 she started painting on her own and then began taking formal lessons at The Academy of Fine Arts in New Orleans.

-- Artist Statement --

I see color and texture as building blocks of life:  The interplay of brilliant color, soft hues, shades, tones.  The energy of color is all around us; without it...our lives would be incredibly dull.  I see abstract shapes when different colors are used together that then meld into something recognizable...or then maybe...just a fun abstract painting.  My paintings offer a bold experiment with color, shapes, and objects.
