Kaki Orr Birtel has her roots in Texas but grew up in New Orleans. In 1999 she started painting on her own and then began taking formal lessons at The Academy of Fine Arts in New Orleans.

On painting, Kaki says, “I love the interplay of color and abstract shapes -- especially showing the colors in different shades. I also love happy paintings, as well as dramatic ones.”

In general--to achieve the particular effect that she is going for--Kaki’s art is created with brushes, fingers, chop sticks & any other utensils or implements that might be handy.
